I did my 06 a couple of years ago with the manifold on. I put a big magnet next to the spot I was drilling so all of the shavings would stick to it. I kept the motor running so any loose shavings would be blown out the hole instead of falling into the manifold. I would never do that to anyone else's truck but it was worth the risk to me.The EGT probe? Yes....that seems to be much less of a headache than taking off the exhaust manifold that likely hasn't been removed since it was new in '94. Supposedly what you have to do is drill progressively larger holes without breaking through. Once your close start it up and finish the hole and tap the threads. I've never done that so some supervision or someone else doing it while I watch ( for science) is what I really want.

If I had a shop I definitely wouldn't do it, especially on a 94. Way too much chance of a customer coming back with turbo issues and blaming my work.That's seems to be the trend. Everyone does it that way even if you pay them but shops are nervous about doing it
