Best Bourbon that doesn't break the bank?

For a spirit to be considered Bourbon it must adhere to six standard rules:

  1. It must be made in the U.S.
  2. It must be aged in new, charred white oak barrels.
  3. It must be at least 51 percent corn.
  4. It must be distilled at less than 160 proof (80 percent alcohol by volume).
  5. It must enter into a barrel at below 125 proof.
  6. There can be no artificial coloring or flavor.
Thus Jack is bourbon....they just choose to call it TN Whiskey instead.

Technically, yes, Tennessee Whiskey is a bourbon. But they don’t want to call it bourbon, they want to differentiate Tennessee Whiskey.

it does they even tell you that at Jack when they do the tours
No it doesn't. I guess Cooper's Craft Bourbon isn't bourbon to you then? Brown Forman, who also owns Jack, makes both charcoal filters both, and calls one bourbon but not the other. The ONLY reason Jack is CALLED TN Whiskey is because it is marketed as such. They could call it bourbon if they wanted to and be 100% correct and within their rights to do so.

I guess if charcoal filtering is a violation of point 6 thus invalidating thousands of bourbons as bourbons then....don't know what to tell you.
