BATFE Moving To Ban M855 Ammo

I was already skeptical about the comments they were supposedly going to take into consideration, but this is yet another criminal act in the faces of the citizens. If these non elected, self appointed legislators can get away with this, they can et away with anything.
Quoted for truth !

I think its great. This will hopefully open up even more lawmakers to how convoluted the ATF is.

Yup. A bill has already been drafted to shut down the ATF. Move firearms to the FBI and alcohol and tobacco to the DEA. With Republican controlling both the house and the Senate it should be a slam dunk and that was before this new revelation.

Still not going to get my hopes up but I said it before than commenting to the atf isn't going to do anything.

From the NRA-ILA:
In a move clearly intended by the Obama Administration to suppress the acquisition, ownership and use of AR-15s and other .223 caliber general purpose rifles, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives unexpectedly announced today that it intends to ban commonplace M855 ball ammunition as “armor piercing ammunition.” The decision continues Obama’s use of his executive authority to impose gun control restrictions and bypass Congress.

How to comment – from the BATFE
ATF will carefully consider all comments, as appropriate, received on or before March 16, 2015, and will give comments received after that date the same consideration if it is practical to do so, but assurance of consideration cannot be given except as to comments received on or before March 16, 2015. ATF will not acknowledge receipt of comments. Submit comments in any of three ways (but do not submit the same comments multiple times or by more than one method):

ATF email: APAComments@atf.gov
Fax: (202) 648-9741.

Mail: Denise Brown, Mailstop 6N-602, Office of Regulatory Affairs, Enforcement Programs and Services, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, 99 New York Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20226: ATTN: AP Ammo Comments.

FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT: Denise Brown, Enforcement Programs and Services, Office of Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, U.S. Department of Justice, 99 New York Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20226; telephone: (202) 648-7070.

Your comments and participation in stopping this atrocity will be greatly appreciated. This is another move by this administration to install back door gun control. The complete NRA-LA write up can be found here.
Common AR-15 Green Tip Ammunition Already Banned in New ATF Regulation Guide
Townhall.com l Katie Pavlich l 03/06/15

On Friday February 13 at 4:00 pm, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms released a proposal to ban commonly used M855 "green tip" AR-15 ammunition under the guise of law enforcement safety. The same day the proposal was released, on a Friday of a three day holiday weekend, ATF opened up a shortened 30-day period for the public to submit comments about the new regulation.

But it turns out, ATF has been working on a ban of AR-15 "green-tip" ammunition for quite some time and has already issued the ban in its new, 2014 Regulation Guide. For reference, ATF Regulation Guides come out approximately every ten years.

When you take a look at the 2005 ATF Regulation Guide, you'll see an exemption for AR-15 "green-tip" ammunition, which means it exempted from the definition of "armor piercing" and therefore is legal on the federal level.

This is a fairly long article and somewhat disturbing to those who think the United States is a government by, of and for the people. The article states 2014 but clarifies it is actually 2015 at the bottom of the article. The rest of the article can be found here.

posted this in another thread, if this is what they consider, as of 2014, then m855 is still in the clear, as it is not defined as AP. But yet media is saying it is not exempt!?
