Any advice on running a small Forestry Mulching business?

The market is all over the map. Lot's of cheap guys with barely any insurance and a $12 an hour driver will underbid any project. You will never win on price alone. You have to win on service above and beyond. Answer your phone or at least call back promptly. Also old barbed wire that the owner did not know about is a thing. There is a 50 year old fence on my property

Land clearing with a skid steer and a forestry mulcher?
I can assure you that will not cover operating expenses for a legit business.
the Crack-Head market is wide open.
Here is some of the crack heads work! Mf that over charge is what wrong with AMERICA ( and MF THAT PAY THE INFLATED PRICE)!

That work looks great. Alabama has good prices on land and services. People in Alabama mostly don't make enough to pay 150/hr for this type of work. Now in Georgia outside of ATL, people can pay that cause they make more.

Looks like the crack head done a good job. The upcoming recession will thin out the construction/grading/dump truck business. I saw it in 2008 and look forward to it happening.

A good machine and attachment is close to $150,000 new. Plan on replacing both at 3000 hours. That means $50 an hour just goes to an account to replace your equipment when it is worn out. That is before you buy insurance, fuel, parts, transport costs, or operator salary.

Unless you plan on doing this as a charity, you better nail down your break even numbers.

Oh, and sell the bobcat and buy an ASV 120 or something made for forestry. Bobcats are great dirt machines, but had nothing but problems with them overheating in forestry work.

You know how to make a small fortune in the mulching business? First, start with a large fortune….

Well Alabama is kinda like Mexico in that regard, please keep the low ballers over there or we may have to put up a wall,JK. Lots of folks can run equipment blindfolded, in their sleep, with one arm tied around their back, but don’t have a lick of sense with running a business.
