30-06 Recipes

Anybody loading for 30-06.What kind of powders and primers.Going to be loading some 168 sierra match and some 165 sierra gamekings.Thanks

Max charge of IMR 4350. CCI. BR2 primer, Winchester neck sized brass and a 168gr Sierra game king goes into one ragged hole from my Savage 116 and 110. It also shoots well from my Rem 700 CDL. Best group yet was 10 rounds into .446 at 100 yds from my 116 FLCSAK.
Work up from a start of 53gr to a max of 57gr. Absolutely hammers deer. My rifles seem to like the game king better than the match king. I load the Savages jammed into the lands but the Remington is long throated (aren't they all) and I load to maximum magazine length.

For my Garands I do

155 Sierra Hpbt 49 gr IMR 4895

With bullets from 165 grains and up in the 30-06, I like slower powders. IMR 4350 is hard to beat.

Another vote here for IMR-4350.

I use it in multiple hunting calibers. Generally when loading for a bolt action, near max loads are the most accurate.

I'm only using it in two '06 rifles right now, and both of them are semi-auto. I started with a charge weight of 54 gr. and have found no reason to change it.

I've been using IMR 4350 behind a 180 grain bullet for almost 30 years. It's been a great load.

It looks like 4350 is leading the post.I have varget and 4895 that I am shooting in 308 bolt guns has anyone tried these in 30-06.

Been using IMR4064, WLR primers, and 165 Game Kings for about 20 years now. Have yet to see a semi or bolt gun that didn't love this combo....and the deer hate it.

The load that works for me is 48.7gr....but your milage may vary.
Also had good luck with 150 Game Kings and 50gr.

Varget and 4895 will both work fine. I use them for 170 grain and lighter bullets in my 06.
