So, 10/22 gurus….why the much taller front sight when the rears are identical height?

Ruger put these sites on some of the 10/22s from the factory. The plain jane 10/22 compacts came with them I know.Aftermarket then they sold it because they couldn't their intended target.
I have this old 10/22 I bought at wal-mart back in the early 90’s it always been good to me. This is the one I taught my son & daughter to shoot with, now their grown and gone out on their own, me and the grandkids shoot it. Thousands of rounds through it with no problems at all.
Always enjoy hearing the back story on guns. Heirloom guns should never be sold. Thanks for sharing. This is one of my favorite models and the story is pretty consistent that it was a special production for Walmart.
Anyone know where I can get a pistol grip medallion for my paddle stock. It was gone when I got it long ago and went a different direction with the reciever but I’m wanting to revive it now. On the to do list 
I have not looked in a while but there used to be a few people selling these on eBay. You may as well go all out and get walnut while you're at it.
I have a few new ones…IF it’s the same one that goes on the Mannlicher stock…
