I miss the prehistoric days of BC (before cellphones) life was so much simpler then.

Looks interesting but I assume it's running some version of Android. Android equals Google and we're right back where we started. There is another, third, and better option. I pre-ordered mine last year when I first heard whisperings of it.

Um it’s neither — that’s why it is a third (and better imho) option.Looks interesting but I assume it's running some version of Android. Android equals Google and we're right back where we started.
You don’t understand software development do you? I’d only be worried if the newer version was less stable and more buggy. And because it’s open software, that allows for independent security auditing, which is a huge benefit. You are right about limited apps — for now. This is a brand new platform so new apps will come with time. Not quite clear how PureOS relates to Android; the suggestion is it's independent. You have to be a little concerned when they're proud the last release is more stable than before.
As it's based on open source it may be quite vulnerable to hackers to start with, and of course the app selection will be very limited.

In for more details. And please remember I ain't a tech guy. I don't know all the possible security issues and software terms. I just know that as of now we're stuck with a Google or Apple product. Both companies hate us. I know it's a mountain to climb coming up with a third option. It would be nice though and beneficial to more than just us.Um it’s neither — that’s why it is a third (and better imho) option.

I've heard the Limbaugh ads about using a VPN and that's good advice but when it's all said and done we're still using the enemies devices. I don't claim to have any answers here. As I already stated I ain't a tech guy by far. It was all I could do to get a Roku up and running at the shop yesterday. Now you know the people in this forum won't buy anything with a name close to Liberal.
It operates on PureOS and I remember they made a push for laptops back in 2013 or so. It would be a great option for IT inclined people. My suggestion is to run your phone through a custom VPN so there's no way your info can be cached on the back end.
