What do you think of this engine design?

Interesting in concept, but the swashplate load will lead to it's demise.

Not an option? No, just not highly publicized. Step father worked for an airline, I have friends that work for Delta. I have pilot friends. There's a lot more failures out there, it just doesn't come to light.
 
At first glance the design doesn't appear to be efficient. The energy from the cylinders has to be directed 90 degrees to rotate the crank, so I would expect a substantial power loss and a good deal of internal wear. I wold imagine that rebuilds wold be required fairly often.
 
The most efficient small engines usually come out In a motorcycle. Usually a Honda

I just don't see how this is better than a pancake flat 4 like airplanes have used for 50 years
