The smell of Space...

Thats some interesting stuff. I guess it's the smell of stars being born and dying out.

Essentially space smells like my neighbors back porch. Seared steak, hot metal, and welding fumes.

i think they are smelling something burning in the ISS

I have heard about this sort of thing before.

I remember the guys who walked on the moon mentioning a similar smell after they got back in the ship. I always assumed it was the dust on the moon, but it could have just been the same "smell" which people have been getting after their spacewalks outside the ISS and the shuttle.

When the astronauts took off their helmets after their moonwalk, they noticed a strong smell, which Armstrong described as “wet ashes in a fireplace” and Aldrin as “spent gunpowder”. It was the smell of moondust brought in on their boots.

(This is an account from the first moonwalk. I remember reading similar stories about other ones.)

-Pretty cool!
