I have a buddy that I fish and hunt with sometimes. He's a NOTORIOUS CHEAPSKATE. All of his "good" rods look just like that one.

Yeah, St. Augustine. I have no idea what it was. It just went, didn't turn, nothing just took off. Maybe a tarpon. Usually you get head shake with a shark...this was like a submarine. Little mullet on a flounder rig for bait.
