So I thought I'd share a little project I just finished up Sunday Night. I was able to use it for a little bit today due to weather. The idea all started from the Reloaders Network and seeing that Loads of Bacon used a little Chinese harbor freight tool box for a casting cart.. I went all American with the idea and made a one off custom piece that'll hopefully outlast me
It measures 30"x96" (2'-8" exterior door width), 1/8" countersunk steel top and corners (Very High Temp paint), custom made trim, 220lb drawer slides, Refurbished Bayou Classic burner, 12 outlet 15A harbor freight power strip, stained/custom artwork/polycrylic coated, all riding one 800lb (2,400lb total) swivel locking castors.. My initial budget I was aiming for was @ or around $300.. that turned into $440 all said and done. Artwork was done using a Mod Podge/Laser printer transfer... It really only worked well on the Indian Skull and then turned into having to re-do all other pieces by hand. Inside the cubby is a 20lb tank fit in the bottom and bungee corded, cast iron pots, fan, 5gal bucket of saw dust, utensils, ingot molds, Some PPE, and even an electric skillet. The drawers are more than enough space for casting pot/pots, moulds, tools, ingots, and who knows what else. In the frame I put 2x8's on the top front for mounting a press, bench grinder, vice or whatever I so desire. The thing handles like a 1972 Caprice Classic and has my neighbors scratching their heads as to what the hell I'm up to. It was a lot of work, it certainly beats drinking, and 9 times outta 10 I don't feel like I have any original ideas.. So here's to this 1. Also had the idea to share because of Doug, Thank you for sharing your bench with us.
