I keep a loaded Benelli M1 in the bedroom closet and it isn’t locked up. When no one is home, the alarm is set and we have multiple big dogs loose in the house. I don’t see the need to lock it up every time I leave the house.

Different situations call for different weapons. All of which should be as instantly available as possible.
