If I absolutely had to pick one of the chain steak restaurants, its Texas Roadhouse by a very long shot. I'd rather starve than eat at Longhorn or Outback, even if someone else is picking up the bill.

Neither is as good as they used to be in the late 80s/early 90s. These days I can usually taste the cost savings in the ingredients.

Tenderloin Beef Filet from Kroger
A little salt, pepper, and butter.
Cast iron griddle on a gas stove at medium heat
Five minutes per side.
Comes out fork tender. I'll take pictures next time we cook.
Wife been cooking these for a few years now and I don't eat steak anywhere but home now.
Refer to Outback as "trashmeat".

Shhhh! Don't give away our secret...They'll be harder to get on sale if everyone knows how good these are!

Slow roasted beef tenderloin
1. Trim and truss
2 liberally salt and place on rack uncovered in fridge for 24hrs.
3. Remove from fridge and bring to room temp.
4. Place in 225 degree oven until internal temp reaches 125.
5. Remove from oven, cover with foil for 1hr. Temp will rise to 135.
Note: the meat will dry and look like leather during the 24hr salting process. I have tied rosemary twigs or sprinkled grill mates seasoning. Whatever you like. I used to sear the roast then place it in a hot oven. This slow roast is so much better
