Machette... Followed closely by that massive thing that Croc Dundee carried. After that, Leatherman, Swiss, etc... Now, if you have the option of multiple knives, I would recommend the Miracle Blade III set, as seen on TV. Freaking sharp!

Survival knife? That's real vague. In my Bug Out Bag I carry a simple Boy Scout knife made by Victorinox. A good utility knife I own is a USN Mk. 1 utility knife, but if it's one that do many things my knife of choice looks kind of like the Rambo knife - except it was formerly a Navy issue knife. The Buckmaster 184 is the ultimate survival knife (you could do a search on e bay and find one.) They are probably really pricey nowadays. Too bad the Navy don't issue those any more.

Machete. Hatchet. Good fixed blade knife to skin game. Spring assisted pocket knife. Pretty much standard woods equipment. Don't believe in the one knife thing from growing up on a farm. Different tools for different uses...it's not that much to carry.
