For starters - food, water, fuel, medicine, medical supplies, ammo & body armor, gas mask, toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, a way to generate power, a way to heat and cook, heirloom seeds, communication equipment, assorted hand tools. The list is pretty much unlimited.

sounds like you are pretty much set.
i would add food, water and shelter for you and the ones you love. if you ever add a child to that list, you will want to be able to feed, water, and protect him no matter what.

Don't under-estimate a good dog, he will be is worth his weight in gold in countless ways, he'll really be your best friend despite what your wife says. LOL
