that might account for the small coolant leak on the front of the eng..
You might be able to see it coming out of the weep hole on waterpump in that case, get an inspection mirror. If it's coming from there the seals have failed and bearings next. Sounds like a trip to advance or autozone

With the engine cut off try turning the fan with your hand
Thermostat most likely. easy and cheap fix as well.

doing that and a flush first... then maybe water pump...
It shouldn't turn easy. If you have a minor coolant leak on the front I would also bet the water pump is getting ready to let go. I would start with a water pump amd thermostat. If it still gets hot I'd look into the fan clutch. The fan shouldn't turn freely amd honestly I would replace it first if I didn't see a leak behind the water pump. But thats just my way of thinking.
Do the flush, change the pump and thermostat all at once.
