My wife inherited her grandfather’s Galaxie. It’s been sitting in a barn for 26 years! I brought it to my shop this week to start working on it. It’s 100 percent original. Here’s my question. I bypassed the gas tank, cleaned the fuel pump, replaced the fuel filter, changed oil, plugs, wires, cap, rotor and points. It’ll crank with starting fluid but the carb is gummed up. I’d like to have it rebuilt. It’s an Autolite 4100. Anyone out there doing restorations on old carbs?

Cool car and fun looking project! Keep us posted and I’m sure you will be able to find a mechanic that can rebuild that carb for ya in your area.

Rip that puppy off and soak it in cleaner
I don't know where you are, but, there used to be a place in Roswell called carburetor specialist and they know pretty much everything there is about them. If not I try to Race shop somewhere a lot of those race cars are still running carbs. Or maybe you could go to a retirement home. Just ask at the desk if there's any mechanics in there. I had a 82 Ford pickup that I was trying to restore it the mechanic side go to weren't even born when it was made.

Very nice! I knew a guy with a 63 1/3 Ford, he liked to have long discussions about what made it a 1/3 as opposed to a 1/2, 63 or a 64.
