I don't know what the bottom is made of but a small mini excavator would make short work of clearing it and can be rented pretty cheap. I got one when I built my patio and it made 2 days work take 30 minutes.

Hey Dougie fresh... Leave it the way it is... Put water in it plant rice in it and get one of those cool lampshade hats...
