My good buddy Jim gave this to me, its called a Yo-Yo survival fishing rod. Basically, it operates off of tension and is like a trot line. You nail or tie this little thing in a tree, stretch the line out and the line "catches" on a cut out (think window blinds how you pull the line out, but pull it forward and it snags until pulled again) and attach either a leader or hook. When fishy bite and move, the line un-locks its'self and keeps tension on the line and fishy on the end till you get back. It is small like a can of snuff and super cheap, going in my bag-O' stuff for use

That's just plain awesome... I've had way too many trot lines with no bait and no fish before. I'd like to know how much tension that puts on the line and how hard it is to trip.

i actually used one of these (my grampa gave me a couple ) when i was a kid, hang em in a tree and they'll pull a brim, crapie, or small bass straight out the water. i wish i still had em no telling what i did with em

Hey willr1, ask your buddy if he bought it recently, and if so, where...

Would definitely be interested in adding one of these to a backpack or two.
