So just curious, what happens if I pass away and my wife(family) doesn’t know my combination? Would she have to get someone to cut it open?

There's never a reason to "cut" open a safe. A safe guy that knows what he's doing will open it with one small hole... assuming it's only a lost or unknown combination.
