Chinese police revolver, A newly- developed (2005) weapon intended for community police who have historically never been armed.
It's chambered for a new 9 mm rimmed cartridge that has a similar bullet weight and power level to the 380 ACP. The standard police ammo features full metal jacket round nose design --no hollow points.
The Chi-coms really want to see suspects taken alive so they can be interrogated (tortured?). That's why it's chambered for an under powered round-nose cartridge. Also, police are widely distributing rubber bullet cartridges for this revolver as well.
Norinco NRP9 is probably the specific model on this one.
