Just one .45acp pistol

My Top 3 in the 45 Auto arena, though there are many great platforms outside of these:

HK45 Compact Tactical: my favorite handgun on the market (regardless of cartridge) and the single handgun platform I'm most invested in.

DW Specialist: every collection needs a 1911 in 45 Auto (and 10mm... and 9mm... maybe even 38 Super 🤷‍♂️).

Ruger New Vaquero: allows me to shoot 45 Colt for fun, and gives me a platform that eats some of the oddball 45 Auto loads that I hand-roll that don't get along with autoloaders.

HK USP 45 I currently my top want.

HK USP 45 I currently my top want.
The USP 45 is phenomenal. I was going to go all in on it, but found the ergos of the HK45c a bit more to my liking.

The only platform that eludes me is a S&W 625 in 45 Auto. I remember when the 625 JM was plentiful at $899 a few years back and I sat on my hands. Wish I had bought two! Shoulda woulda coulda 😔

Les Baer Thunder Ranch 1911
Preferably case hardened by Turnbull.

Modern social work.
FN 45 Tactical

I do shooters..not safe queens & BBQ guns.

I have owned and shot many .45's but those two models have always impressed me.

Note, price is no object in my choices.
Sti, Wilson, Brown and so on....Baer's just feel right.
Travis Strahan 1911s a close second, wish I had bought more.

Capacity, reliability, weight and price. A 1911 doesn't win in any of those categories. Sorry to say but the 1911 is outdated. It's a "classic". That means if you want to leave your son a parting gift that will always remain the best in class and retain it's value, buy him an original Colt 1911. If you want a shooter for home defense or to carry, every manufacturer of hand guns has their version of the 1911. Everybody has a favorite.

In the price range.

SA TRP 1911- an older one.

Modern:
FN .45 Tactical

I have had both the FN & HK guns and found the FN a better shooting and social work gun for me.

I have shot both he FN and the many makes of HK side by side and now no longer own my HK's.

Not that the HK or Glocks are bad guns...IMHO you really need to shoot them to appreciate the differences.
You might have smaller or larger meat hook hands and find the others more to your liking.

Also depends if it is a range gun or carry gun.
