I'd let the PD handle the matter. I wouldn't go over to his house for fear that he'd freak out (think you were there to rob him) and draw down on you - then you'd have a hairy situation.

I wouldn't do anything like that. I like to think about how I would explain my actions to police if things don't go well before I act and in this case... "The guy owed me money so I pounded on his door and demanded it"-
Some folks are checking in to the guy for me and if it can be settled like gentlemen it will be. If not I will put it in the hands of the police and courts, but I am NOT letting him get away with it.
