This story could alternately be titled:" Deal outside the ODT and see what happens!"
I will give you the highlights first, if you want more detail I will add it or PM you.
I was looking for a Stainless BCG for an AR 15. Found said item for a fair price listed by an individual on another firearms website.
Emails between myself and the seller from Dublin, GA established I would pay a little over $130 to have his Yankee Hill BCG shipped to my house. Payment was made by USPS postal order, after my offer to meet in Macon was too far a drive for him.
Week passes and I hear nothing so I email him and a day or so later get back an email the sellers home had been broken into and nearly 8,000 in firearms were stolen from him, among the items the BCG I had paid for.
I offered my sympathies and asked that he send back the money order at his leisure, as being a former victim myself I knew he had other things to take care of.
Weeks go by and nothing. I email again to inquire and a day later I get an email stating that since my email pseudonym, screen name, and out of state cell phone seem sketchy to him even though he has my name, address, and phone number already.
He accuses me of having something to do with the break in and theft from him and refuses to return my money.
After an email answering any questions he might have about me, I proceed to call the Dublin PD and spoke to a helpful Detective who confirmed (when I gave him the man's name) that the burglary had indeed occurred and he suggested I not deal with the man further and just see if the post office can refund my money. Well they told me they can't.
I email seller again and tell him I spoke with his local police and while I can sympathize with him, he is acting like an ass and should give me my money back. Told him to call the detective and ask about the informative conversation we had.
Days go by and I email again letting him know that I am going to file a criminal complaint against him as well as a fraud claim with the USPS.
He emails me back saying: "It was mailed yesterday"
That was 2 weeks ago.
What would you do? Bother the police with this? File a Fraud claim? NAME the scoundrel on various web sites with this story? Or just forget about it?

You have his address. Call the local police and request an escort to settle a fraud dispute. Go collect. Might seem far for $130, but it's the principle. Also, make sure to leave bad feedback wherever you can.

while the situation sucks, let the police handle it. file the fraud claim and notify local pd and let them do the grunt work of investigating it. make sure you get a report number and follow up. you may have to appear in court though, is the only downside.

No feedback on this web site. I tried to locate his name on other sites, but most of us don't use our real names on-line.
I was actually sitting here thinking that I would like to go to him in person and ask for the refund, but I doubt the police would take time to just drive over with me.

The act is criminal. As far as the money itself goes, they're gonna tell him to take a hike to civil court.
