How is the milsurp market these days?

Was bored and updating inventory found my "back up"/spare WRA Garand was made pre Pearl Harbor November 1941!

Pretty cool. It has a WRA barrel which is also pretty rare from my anecdotal experience at CMP about 1 in 20 have not been re barreled during their service. It is a mutt otherwise w an IHC trigger group and a SA oprod but a WRA bolt.

My other WRA has all WRA components!

Very nice

Here’s some great M1 carbine info I’ve never heard about before now....

“...The most impressive anecdote of the whole story, to me, is from when the solitary Winchester prototype broke its bolt in the middle of the final testing. Fred Humiston was representing Winchester at the trials, and he was told that if he could provide a new bolt within 24 hours the gun could continue the trials – but he could not take the gun off the testing ground. So Humiston went back to the Winchester shop and made a new bolt from memory (no drawings yet existed for the gun) and without being able to test-fit it in the gun. When he returned the next day, his new bolt dropped in perfectly, and the gun went on to win the trials. That is an epic feat of skill, and it is really a shame that he does not get more recognition for it.”

Ok guys, have you ever seen a Garand stock with Multiple cartouches? This Stock came on a field grade M1 right before Cmp closed up for flu. If I hadn’t picked it up myself from the Cmp I’d think that the second cartouche might have been faked.

what do you think?

I agree with @NonStampCollector it looks genuine to me. I had the same concerns with one of my stocks and one of the dudes on the CMP forum with a good bit of knowledge of fake vs real cartouches put my mind at ease. I agree though the double stamps are unique. I'll post pics of mine later for comparison.

Lunch break. As promised alleycat alleycat the squared off at the top "A" and the bomb touching the ordinance wheel at on top of the cannons are what I've been told are pretty good indicators for a real one.
