Good knife for field dressing deer

Benchmade Hidden Canyon Hunter or Saddle Mountain Skinner. Both fixed blades in the $150 range. Pictures is my Hidden Canyon

I bought a handmade knife at the gon outdoor blast, it's served me well and holds am edge very well. If I were going with a commercially sold knife I would try to find am older puma knife, older case, or a fixed blade.
 
Took a Benchmade this trip..our ranch hand cut straight through the breast plate of a 5.5 year old buck with it like it was butter...no joke...it was a gift ..and I had no opinion beforehand..but I'm certainly a believer now
 
You honestly don’t need much, I’ve got a few friends that swear by the replaceable blade set ups and never lost them in the woods...

I’ve lost two nice blades in all my years hunting and both times were when I was field dressing in the backwoods lol

That orange handle would have been nice at dark30

There are a lot of great recommendations here - I'd make sure I gave him he would remember he by 25 years from now.......
