I need a commuter. Debating getting something semi fun over practical.
I "think" I found a good rec for a mechanic that specializes in (only) German vehicles.
What would you get (probably 10 year old models)?

MUST be manual, comfortable for a 6' driver, and as "reliable" as such a class of car can be.

Of the ones listed, I like the looks of those the best. Only Z I ever sat in felt like a tin can and did not wear its mileage well at all though.
But it was a 3.

"Need" a roadster. (I guess I'd consider BMW convertible. God help me... )

If you're looking at a Boxer, be sure it has had the IMS bearing replaced. When it fails it destroys the engine. New engine is around $25K.
