These can be had at a relative bargain these days. My only personal experience was with a. 1988 model. Nice car, but the suspension was calibrated a little too much toward luxury. New struts are an easy fix though.

builders figured out most people want a smoother
ride.

I don't have a pic of the truck (bad weather and all) but this one is nearly identical except that mine is 2wd. I bought it for work, so the long bed made sense, but I like the actually like look of the long bed better on a raised or lowered truck. I considered raising and leveling this one.

Land Rover Discovery I and maybe Discovery II.

Put in a Chevy 350 and GM transmission and you have an awesome off road vehicle.

You can get a Disco with a blown Rover engine (piece of junk), for under a grand...
