Dog leash suggestions

Depends on where you are. When I went to a wide open place like a park I used retractable

Ordered a 6 foot leash to match his harness, maybe later get a 10 foot leash as he learns

The metal crates/ cages are more expensive then I suspected, hopefully goodwill will get some donated

Get a Flexi. Wally world has them. They are German made. Get a bigger one, like if your dog is 20lbs get one for a 30-50lb or however they are classified. I had their largest ones for my Doberman for years and it took alot of abuse and still worked.

Retractable leashes encourage owner laziness and bad behavior from the dog.

6 foot leash is the best. There are some available with a second loop at 2 feet.

Another thing to consider about retractable leashes is if you ever happen to drop it, it will chase your dog when it retracts. While it is greatly hilarious to watch a dog running from an out of control leash retracting toward it, its probably somewhat traumatizing for the dog.
