Back when I fished carp tournaments I'd use cooked grits-not instant with packs of strawberry jello and vanilla flavoring. Let it get thick then put a couple of sugar pop cereal pieces on your hook the take a golf ball size wad of the flavored grits. It don't stay on the hook real good but I used to catch a ton of carp on it.
