When mine was 9 he was a good bit more than 55 lbs.
He got a Ruger American 22 lr.
I had a 10/22 at about the same age & I remember going thru a lot of ammo.
In theory a bolt will force him to make his shots count more than with a semi-auto.
I’d wait till the fellow was 75+ lbs before I...
I’ve shot a lite weight .338 Win Mag.
I had a Ruger .375, which actually bests .375 H&H if comparing with the same barrel length.
A 3.5” 12 gauge goose load & a 10 gauge single barrel are worse than either of the 2 rifles above.
The .375 is more of a shove.

SR-25 is certainly more prolific than the AR10 platform.
PMAGS are SR-25 patterned, for instance.
AR-10 magazines were typically modified M14 magazines Prior to the Armalite updated version about 10 years ago.
Knight’s Armament
DPMS
Ruger SFAR
POF
LMT
Are all SR-25 pattern rifles.
I really...
You reminded me about the first one we had- a bull barrel LR308.
It was Chevy heavy, but did shoot well.
Thank You.

ODT,
Please direct me on a proper 308 carbine- something I can count on from here on out.
My 5.56 carbines are BCM but BCM doesn’t play in this arena. Oh to Wish.
1. Ruger SFAR- ~$1,000
2. POF 308 Rogue- ~$1,400
3. Something else.
Please advise.

The 280AI is worth the squeeze.
By sales it is the most successful, but it’s between that & the .257 Bob as far as to which one gains the most.
P.O. had his favorite.

That’s why I try really hard not to go to those places.
Always a little one, & typically the larger ones when traveling.
My primary goal remains the same: to go home.
