Just had a new experience for me. I have a Yugo M48 in really good condition, all matching serial numbers on the parts. Just one problem, and I have never tried to fire it so I just noticed this. Last week I was moving some stuff around and picked this rifle up, I worked the bolt a few times to check the smoothness of the action. Then I pulled the trigger and noticed how little movement there seemed to be with the firing pin.

So today, I downloaded a very nice disassemble/reassemble instruction set on the k98 bolt and went to work. Once I got it apart it was just as I suspected. The main spring was packed with cosmoline. So I cleaned all 7 parts thoroughly, very lightly oiled tham and put it back together. What a difference! It works as designed now, maybe I will even fire a few rounds through it.
