Stay away from 8. It's Bill's attempt to get back into the tablet and phone market.
Working in the Media (Computer) \Cell phone exploitation business that is what I find most disturbing about apple products with one device someone can have access to your whole world in about 5 mins.

I'll buy a Windows 8 touch screen next year when the price is right. I enjoy playing with new stuff. I'll keep my Win 7 pro.
Since Jobs died 13 months ago, I believe Apple has seen its peak. Their profit margins will be hard to continue (2/3's of their profits are iPhone). Tim Cook is a IBM-type and Scott Forstall just left (the software genius). Apple's stock is down 20% (a hefty $133 billion loss in market cap). I wouldn't try to catch a falling knife.

Very easily, same with infecting them with a virus or malware. It just doesn't happen that often because hackers don't generally find much useful stuff in the computers of hipsters or old people who can't figure out how to work a proper PC...
