Who was under gunned ?

The brits were using tech that was outdated by about 60 years shooting a caliber placed in basically smaller self defense revolvers by the time. They maxed out the capabilities of 38 s&w. There was something old timey awesome bout there revolver though

The p38 was the 2nd most modern handgun next to the browning but I'd carry the p38

From what I've read, during WWII after Dunkirk (where they lost almost all of their current production of battle gear). They had such a shortage of firearms that they had their factories turn out anything that would shoot ... and employed every surplus weapon in storage that they could lay their hands on! The .38 was among them .. they supposedly loaded them with 160 GR Wad Cutters which had almost no penetration capability, but were very effective man-stoppers (unloading all of its energy before exiting). Insomuch that the laws then were like their laws today: firearm ownership and possession was virtually non-existent. The British Government didn't have a readily available supply of weapons that they could conscript OR an armed citizenry to organize into a militia. If FDR hadn't stepped in with Lend-Lease, the Brits would have been thoroughly screwed!
