x2. They were really bad last year. My yard looked like it had been aerated lol. A lot come out every year but every 10 years (I think) there is a big bunch that hatch out. They burrow down in your yard and 10 years later hanging on your trees. Loud too!!!

Yep, looks like the back is split open, so I'd say it's molted.

I am pretty sure that it is every 17 years they come out in droves!

Probably about 35 years ago, I lived in Nashville, Tennessee. That year must have been that 17 year cycle. Not only did my yard look aerated, but the little devils came right out through my black topped driveway.
