Just finished "Out of the Silent Planet" by CS Lewis and
"The Few" (I don't have the author's name handy), about the American pilots who went to Great Britain in WW2 and flew in the RAF.
Almost anything by S.M. Sterling.
I read a lot of books about various natural and man-made disasters that happened throughout history. They really help put into perspective everything that is happening today.
The current book I'm reading is Isaac's Storm by Erik Larson.
Just read "American on Purpose: The Improbable Adventures of an Unlikely Patriot" by Craig Ferguson. He is one of the funniest guys around today, and this book is really, really a great story. Craig grew up in Scotland and eventually moved here to the US and became a citizen. Yes, he is an immigrant, but he is one of the PROUDEST Americans I've encountered. He had a CRAZY life and it's really an interesting, funny, and captivating story of someone who truly is an "unlikely patriot."
