What are push notifications and why would I want it?

I get the same thing every time. It says:

The Outdoors Trader would like your permission to enable push notifications.
----
We were a bunch of legal private traders. I have proudly attended both ODT events. I generally trade here with old friends.

Please do not let criminals here with your push stuff!

I've not had that problem on any browser. Once clicked it's gone. Could be a setting in your browser preferences.

Me, neither. Selected once to not get push notifications, and I’ve never been asked again.

I'm using Brave - might be a factor.

Brave is probably preventing use of a cookie to save your answer.

I use a few different browsers, but I never have to re select.

The "Never ask again" option never works.

It seems to have been fixed. Haven't had a pop-up about push notifications in a while now.
