Welding helmet recommendations

If your indoors welding such as garage or shop go with auto darkening. If you plan on being out in the sun auto darkening can frustrate you.

I’ve used auto darkened for years and really like it but most of my welding is inside. Either will work fine

If you can afford it get a Miller digital infinity helmet. The display is true color which is like comparing an old tv to a 4K UHD tv. You can see everything the screen is the largest and it has X-Mode which allows it to be used in direct sunlight because it turns of the arc sensors and uses an E.M.P sensor to tell when the arc starts. Don’t forget the cheater glass for the lens.
It’s like reading glasses,
Magnifies things a bit and really helps.
Especially the older guys

I lucked out and found a very nice swiss made Optrel in a pawn shop for $35.

for hobby use, harbor freight and norther tool brands work fine. In my experience the only last a few years. But to get a better hood you typically have to spend quite a bit more.
