I think all (or most) of the development of the first A-Bomb was done at Los Alamos, New Mexico.

The site at Dawson Forest was for researching the possibility of nuclear powered aircraft. That's an interesting idea, especially for military applications, but cleaning up a nuclear plane crash would be a nightmare.
