Have a question that i hope some of the more experienced reloaders here can help me with. I got to thinking a few days ago about wax lubrication for cast bullets. I know that back in the day they used wax but my question is, would it be a workable option for rifle rounds loaded in the 1500 to 1700 FPS range. and specifically the 7.62x39 and 7.62x54R cartridge. Any help yall can lend me is appreciated.

The problems will usually arise with gas port fouling in selfloaders shooting cast.

The proper hardness and gas checks will help, but cast lead with wax or most any of the common lubes smoke like a coal train.

People shoot them everyday though, just may sure you don't care for the folks down wind of you.
