The Just Right Carbine looks good.
Because of the risk of theft, I would not leave a regular AR in my parked unattended vehicle.
AR's are $800-$1200 investments.
A Hi-Point carbine, SKS, pump shotgun, lever action deer rifle, etc., are in the $200-$300 range.

A Hi Point would be a good choice if they got over their stupid and started making some that would take a high cap mag.

Back when SKS's were dirt cheap, they were a perfect truck gun; cheap, very reliable, good caliber for stopping power and penetration, decent capacity.

They are still much cheaper than the average AR, just not nearly as economical as they could be. The day I EAS'ed from the Corps in 1994, I bought a Russian SKS with blade bayonet from the PX at Camp Lejeune for $74 out the door (no tax since I bought it on base).

Ever thought of an escort pump shotgun? CHEROKEE pawn , has them for 149$, academy for 179$. Supposedly academy will match the price, if you can prove it.

I liked cmshoot post last week about a bolt action as a truck gun for out to 300 yards. a lever actions a good idea as well

I made an overhead mount for my Ruger Mini-30. No one can see it from the outside, but it's always there and always within reach.

Not a long gun, but I prefer my 8.5" 300 BLK AR pistol. Very maneuverable, inexpensive, and most effective round from that length barrel in an AR. As a bonus I can travel to other states and not worry about it being an SBR and I can carry it in a room in a travel bag at night with upper and lower seperate.

Thats a nice mount. I carry my AK SBR in my backpack all the time.

Also have this in my ride. Holster is mounted to console.

You can build a lower end AR from a stripped lower and a kit from PSA for $500. It's not that difficult.
