Trimming down fletching on a bolt for a crossbow

I got a crossbow and recently bought arrows with fletching that was to wide for the channel. Can anyone advise me on a way to trim a fraction of an inch off. I have tried to cut the feathers but the two I cut came out a little uneven
Anybody know how to make arrow fletching narrower for a crossbow?? Please??

When you say "too wide" do you mean that the fletching is dragging on the bottom of the channel? If so, check to make sure your bolts were designed for the brand of crossbow you are using. A problem like you are describing is rare.
