You can grow them off. Put the acorns in your refrigerator until you get ready to plant. Plant them in potting soil with a mixture of sand, .25 percent sand In January. Slow growing, about 1 foot a year. Takes about 20 years to produce nuts. Fertilize. Water as much as possible. Grows into a majestic looking tree.

We had several hickory trees in our backyard that we had to get cut down--couldn't sleep with all the golf ball nuts dropping on the deck at night. As the trees grew, the falling nuts started getting closer to our cars and roof. Several times, nuts fell dangerously close to me while doing yard work. We still have lots of squirrels though...
