Thanks flintlox. Had a little time to kill so I consulted Flayderman's 9th Edition page 180-181. Looks as if this particular rifle had a bayonet lug added.... probably at the request of the Egyptian govt. Cool design and great rifles.

thanks for the info. the crescent moon definitely means its Egyptian the marks on the top are worn,like the rest of the gun,and look almost like tally marks. my dad wants to think it a rifle used to kill yankees so im not gonna tell him anything
