Spark plugs

So you have the plastic intake manifolds that get hot and melt.

What automotive engineer would have ever thought that an engine could get hot enough to melt plastic ?

GM's 3800 series V6 engines have plastic valve covers. They don't get hot, but they do leak

Im not a diehard Ford guy, so I wont defend Ford design decisions. What I can say is that my car has been relatively trouble free. The intake was replaced but it wasnt melted, just warped enough to cause a misfire code. Not the best design but it did last 180k miles. The car is 2008 and now has a shade over 250k miles. It still runs well and is smooth and rattle free.

All the Ford are plastic also. I have changed a lot of ford intakes because the plastic gets brittle and breaks.
