Sonic cleaning brass

Wet tumbling is the way to go for the best looking brass, not sure my reloads shoot better now or when I was using a dry tumbler but they sure look good now......

I tumble about 5 hours in Dawn and about 1/2 9mm case full of Lenin shine in a Franklin arsenal. Most people do not tumble that long.
I dry them on a towel on the floor in the winter when the humid is low and on a towel in the sun in the summer time.
The brass comes out much better than new.

you will need a media separator to get the pins out of the cases. I use a Franklin arsenal media separator.

Warning, once you start down this rabbit hole, you won’t be satisfied with anything but really clean brass.

I will admit how bad my sickness was initially. I would deprime and resize, then tumble so that the primer pocket would be perfectly clean, then resize, mouth drop powder, seat and crimp.

that was crazy.
I now cut down the time dramatically, I tumble with the primer in and then run it through the press in one step. Half the time and it looks as good except for a small amount of discoloration in the primer pocket.

I do find it takes several days for the water to evaporate from inside the primer pocket if you leave the primer in.

Try wet tumbling minus the stainless steel pins. Similar results and a lot less work handling the pins. Key seems to be doing a quick wash with a detergent plus a little lemi-shine then a rinse to get rid of the initial dirt, residue, etc.
