question for you motorcycle folks, what is the reason for them handlebars way over your head.

On a hard tailed chopper, you need to lift your ass off the seat when you go over bumps. Since your feet are in front of you, you can't stand up to do it. So ape hangers allow you to pull yourself up.

People with back issues sometimes prefer ape hangers over handlebars that create a lower riding profile. Ape hangers encourage a more upright posture instead of creating the need to hunch over. Ape hangers that fit your body type also decrease strain on the wrists, elbows, and shoulders.

And as some also said, it's just a fashion statement to some.

I donno... there's a video of a woman riding a big cruiser motorcycle with ape hanger handlebars maneuvering through an advanced riders skills course,
weaving around cones,
doing figure eights and U-turns, in a parking lot. She does it well.

Once you get used to unusually high handlebars, it seems to me you can make them work to get the bike to do what you need it to do.

Duc and Suzuki were actually 2 of my better ODT trades.
