Removing rattle can paint from blued revolver?

You can get large cans of acetone at Home Depot--much cheaper than nail polish remover. I use it to clean crud out of MC gas tanks.

most carb cleaners wil have acetone or MEK

If you are going to get it cerakoted by someone else let them blast it off. Most place that I know of use a blasting cabinet to prep the metal. It will take it off quite easy.

Used some nail polish remover and some 0000 steel wool. well soaked and very light (no pressure) rubbing has revealed good deep blueing. The nooks and crannies are gonna be tough - might go find a brass brush.

Do a search and check to see if break fluid will damage the bluing..I know it will take the paint off.

Wow! I was expecting a rusty pitted ruined finish but by golly that looks great as far as I can tell. How are the grips? A brass or nylon brush and acetone (old nail polish remover) should do you right. More pics! more pics!

Don't paint a revolver. The blast from the cylinder gap will end up making it look like crap.
