The earliest I can remember as a child was Elvis dying. The second was Reagan beating Carter and releasing the American hostages in Iran

Yuri Gagarin....first to orbit the earth in 1961. I was 11.

Same here. For some reason that is what stands out in my memories

Listening to the radio around one Christmas, heard story that Pope Pius XII was telling Catholics to stop perpetuating the myth of Santa Claus.
I was probably 4-5 years old. Traumatizing stuff.
