Refinishing an old S&W 39-2

That will work for the slide and small parts, but the frame is aluminum. That would need to be anodized if the desire is to keep it original looking, or coated (Cerakote, KG Gunkote, etc.) if that ain't a concern.

I would leave it alone. Honest wear is honest wear.

IMO, one of the "modern coatings" detracts from the value of a classic gun, unless it is really roached (see the ad for the burned out DW in S&S).

My favorites are revolvers, and I have yet to see a Dura/Cera/Bubba coated one that I would prefer to the original blue even in terrible condition.
